My Story

Born in California but raised in Colorado, I've been interested in weather since a very young age. The fascination began during the frequent trips my dad and I would take to the park to watch the clouds roll by. That fascination quickly turned into a passion and I began focusing my efforts on understanding why the skies moved, changed, and acted the way they do. Combining my passion with technological and creative skills such as graphic design, performance art, and a love for geography, I found that becoming a broadcast Meteorologist was my ideal career path.

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, with a hard focus in Atmospheric Science from the University of Denver, I then continued my education at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. My studies there focused solely on Meteorology and broadcast production. During my time at MSUD, I took a chance and was cast as a Broadcast Meteorologist for the Emmy award-winning student newscast The MET Report. Together with fellow aspiring broadcast journalists, I anchored and produced live weather forecasts and news stories for the Denver Metro area.

While volunteering as a student forecaster at CBS 4 Denver (KCNC), it was suggested I apply for a position as a Writer/Producer at the top 20 market station. Not too long after I was called in for an interview, offered the job, and gladly accepted. During my time at CBS, I was able to allocate my time between learning all I could about the world of broadcast news in a large market, while also taking the time to practice in front of the chromakey and train under the great mentorship of Weather Anchor Ed Greene and Meteorologists Chris Spears.

Wanting to expand my experiences, I moved to Boston where I married, and was able to focus more on my meteorological aspirations. There I met with several local Mets, including Meteorologist Eric Fisher who gave me an inside and outside look at what it’s like to contribute to national newscasts.

My on-air career officially began at a family-owned station in Mankato, MN. I was hired as a Weekend Meteorologist/Multi-Media Journalist but quickly worked my way up to becoming the full-time Morning Meteorologist! During my time in Mankato, I was able to hone my skills both on and off the screen, mastering the complexity of Midwest weather patterns. I met many wonderful people, presented and participated during several events, and was given the opportunity to establish my goals for my future in broadcast TV.

I spent about a year in Mankato before another opportunity came my way. KIMT News 3 (a CBS Affiliate), located in Mason City, IA, was expanding into the growing Rochester, MN market. I was offered the position as the fourth Meteorologist and gladly accepted. This was not only a big step-up in terms of market size but a great opportunity to help build an audience for a blossoming station. I began my tenure at KIMT as the evening Rochester Meteorologist, focusing on the forecast for southern Minnesota. I spent about 6 months of my time outdoors doing live shots, chasing storms, and soaking up the sun, wind, rain -- whatever was coming our way! Once the brand-new studio was up and running in Rochester, I divvied up my time between the studio and the outdoors. In 2018, the KIMT News 3 Daybreak team and I were awarded a regional Emmy for our outstanding winter weather coverage...and let me tell you, it was a crazy day!

After my tenure at KIMT News 3, life brought me back to the desert southwest. After moving to Salt Lake City, UT I was able to take a step off the screen for a time and experience life in the fast lane of digital news at KUTV 2News. Between writing, editing, and managing every digital aspect of KUTV I've learned so much about the importance of news in a technologically advancing world.

While away from the radar, you will probably find me with a controller in my hand. I’m an avid gamer but also enjoy my time outdoors! I’m always up for some fun in the sun! To go with my love of gaming, I also really enjoy tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons, and card games like Magic the Gathering. I am a HUGE fan of the Colorado Avalanche and, no matter where I live, that will NEVER change!
